Caples Lake – High Sierra Fishing & Boating Haven
Caples Lake is a stunning alpine destination near Kirkwood, known for clear mountain waters, peaceful views, and excellent trout fishing. With a full-service marina and easy lake access, it’s perfect for both casual visitors and serious anglers.
Fishing Highlights:
- Trout species include rainbow, brown, brook, and lake (mackinaw) trout
- Fish from shore, boats, float tubes, or kayaks
- Best spots near creek inlets, coves, and the dam
- Trolling works well for catching larger lake trout
Silver Lake – Boat and Kayak Rentals
Silver Lake has been a favorite fishing retreat since 1916, offering some of the largest trout in the Eastern Sierra. You can fish from shore, a float tube, or a boat. Silver Lake Resort provides well-equipped fishing boats and kayaks for full- or half-day rentals—just bring your own gear. If you have your own boat, a U.S. Forest Service launch ramp is available on the lake.
